Instructions:

For the Pizza Dough:

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the well. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little more flour.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.

For the Pizza Sauce:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the dried oregano and basil and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce and season with salt and pepper. Simmer the sauce for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.

Assembling and Baking the Pizza:

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. If you're using a pizza stone, transfer the rolled-out dough onto a piece of parchment paper.
  3. Spread a thin layer of the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  5. Add your choice of vegetarian toppings.
  6. Carefully transfer the parchment paper with the assembled pizza onto a baking sheet or the preheated pizza stone.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown, and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

Finish and Enjoy:

  1. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute or two.
  2. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
  3. Slice your homemade vegetarian pizza and serve hot.

Now you have a delectable homemade vegetarian pizza that's sure to satisfy your cravings. Feel free to get creative with your toppings and sauce, as there are endless possibilities for delicious vegetarian pizza combinations. Enjoy!
